Volunteering for Research at the Clinical Research Facility
Here at the Clinical Research Facility we are studying several disorders that may influence energy expenditure, body composition, appetite, hunger and satiety.
These currently include thyroid hormone disorders, severe insulin resistance and obesity. Each area of study requires data from unaffected individuals for comparison purposes, so we make measurements in a broad range of healthy people to build up a pool of data against which we can compare the measurements from our study patients. The measurements do not involve testing any new treatments or prodecures.
Your participation would contribute to this valuable pool of reference data.
Our studies take place in the Metabolic Research Area (MRA), which is part of the Clinical Research Facility on Level 5 at Addenbrooke's Hospital. Click on the images below to find more information about what we measure and how our measurements are made.
To be eligible to volunteer, you must be aged 17-65 years, free from disease and live in East Anglia
